Turkish Bread Recipe

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Gradually add the warm water and olive oil while stirring until the dough begins to come together.

Step 2: Knead the Dough

  1. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.

Step 3: Let the Dough Rise

  1. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Step 4: Shape the Dough

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Punch down the dough to release air, then shape it into a ball.
  3. Place the dough on a greased baking sheet.

Step 5: Add Toppings

  1. Make a few shallow incisions on the top of the dough using a sharp knife for decoration.
  2. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or other desired toppings.

Step 6: Bake the Bread

  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Step 7: Cool and Serve

  1. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.
  2. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.
